BUJUMBURA, BURUNDI Marking the conclusion of their collaborative mission, the delegation from the Free Methodist Church of Michigan (USA) was received in a formal audience by Bishop Deogratias Nshimiyimana of the Free Methodist Church in Burundi.
A Shared Vision for Growth
During the meeting, Bishop NSHIMIYIMANA expressed his profound gratitude to the American partners for their physical presence and their steadfast oversight of the projects they support. He urged the delegation to continue their spiritual and practical advocacy, ensuring the church remains a “biblically grounded pillar” in Burundi.
The Bishop emphasized the dual nature of their mission: multiplying disciples in the image of Christ while remaining a first responder to the pressing needs of the community until the return of the Savior.
Firsthand Witness to Transformation
Speaking on behalf of the Michigan delegation, Anna Mortimer praised the tireless dedication of the Burundian church leadership. She noted that witnessing the scope of the church’s work particularly in its most remote regions—provided a clear picture of how transformative ministry is being executed on the ground.
“To see these concrete projects flourishing for the glory of God, even in the most isolated areas, is a testament to the strength of this partnership,” Mortimer remarked.
Expanding the Footprint of Care
The Free Methodist Church’s footprint in the Burundian health sector continues to grow in both scale and quality. The church currently oversees a network of vital medical facilities, including:
- Hope Hospital (Kibuye)
- Van Norman Clinic (Bujumbura/HOPE)
- Muyebe Health Center (Mwaro)
- BURENZA Health Center (Ruyigi)
Additionally, the church announced the imminent opening of the EL-Rapha Health Center in Karurama (Cibitoke), further extending its reach to underserved populations.In the health sector, the Free Methodist Church in Burundi currently operates several medical facilities, including Hope Hospital of Kibuye, Van Norman Clinic in Bujumbura (HOPE), the health centers of Muyebe (Mwaro) and Burenza (Ruyigi), as well as the EL-Rapha Health Center in Karurama (Cibitoke), whose opening is imminent.
