Contextual overview of Burundi

Nestled in Central Africa, Burundi boasts a rich heritage as part of the East African Community. Though independent since 1962, past conflicts have left their mark.

Despite a predominantly Christian population (60% Catholic, 15% Protestant), the nation grapples with illiteracy (47%) and a reliance on subsistence farming (92%). Yet, the Free Methodist Church stands firm, offering hope and support as Burundi navigates its unique path.
