On Sunday, February 2, 2025, in the Gishingano Parish, the Free Methodist Church in Burundi organized a solemn ceremony to celebrate the ordination of new pastors from the three annual conferences of the Church out of six annual conferences (Ntahangwa, Cibitoke and Makamba).

The event was presided over by the Bishop of the Free Methodist Church in Burundi, Monsignor Deogratias NSHIMIYIMANA, in the presence of the Executive Secretary, Evariste BIMENYIMANA, as well as the superintendents of the six annual conferences.

In his preaching, Monsignor Deogratias NSHIMIYIMANA relied on the words of the Bible taken from 1 Peter 4:11 and declared: “Every person present here, without distinction, has the spiritual capacity to accomplish great works to build the kingdom of God. The world is filled with people who seek to achieve their goals, who want to be understood and accepted. Here is the good news: if you wish to be part of what is eternal, if you desire that your life has a true meaning after your passage on this earth, know that God has already prepared a path for you.”

He then highlighted three essential principles to follow:

  1. Maintain an exceptional relationship with God (Matthew 22:37).
  2. Cultivate an exceptional relationship with others (Matthew 25:40).
  3. Accomplish your mission in an exceptional way (Colossians 3:23-24).

To conclude his teaching, Monsignor Deogratias NSHIMIYIMANA invited each participant to examine their spiritual life to verify if they are living according to these three principles. He encouraged them to take concrete steps to rectify what is wrong and to put into practice the teachings received.

This ceremony was marked by the ordination of pastoral candidates as deacons, and the consecration of deacons as pastors.
