BURUNDI FREE METHODIST GENERAL CONFERENCE ENDURING PURPOSE

 

The Free Methodist Church opened the work in Burundi in 1935. Burundi Free Methodist General Conference is composed by two Annual Conferences, 41 Districts and 243 Parishes. At the end of the year 2015 church adult members were 101,944, youth members were 53,348, organized local churches were 948, ordained elders were 485, ordained deacons were 85, and 180 ministerial candidates serving in all 18 provinces of Burundi.

CURRENT PROGRAMS

 

I. EVANGELISM, DISCIPLESHIP AND CHURCH GROWTH

• The Vision: A strong and biblical Church making new converts, receiving Christ by faith, and growing strong in relationship with God and people.
• The Mission: Presenting the Good News of salvation by grace and Discipling those who receive Christ by faith and guide them to grow in Christlikeness.

 

II. CHRISTIAN EDUCATION AND LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

• The Vision: A strong and biblical Church training strong believers, growing deep in the word of God, serving the body of Christ to glorify God.
• The Mission: Teaching believers to obey what Jesus commanded us by helping them to grow rooted in the word of God and use their gifts and talents to serve in the body of Christ.

 

III. LOCAL CHURCH AND COMMUNITY MOBILIZATION

• The Vision: A strong and biblical local church empowering and transforming the community
• The Mission: To provide a faith-rooted, institutional engine and catalyst for systemic and sustainable transformation of communities that flourish with entrepreneurial creativity, spiritual freedom, economic vitality and justice, environmental integrity, cross cultural/social collaboration and political health.

 

IV. FREE METHODIST CHURCH GENERAL DEVELOPMENT

• The Vision: A strong and biblical church empowering its leaders for spiritual, intellectual, physical and socio-economic transformation of the nation.
• The Mission: To empower Church Leaders to impact Burundi Nation by developing and equipping leaders with skills and tools to nurture and deepen the Christian faith for the transformation, reconciliation and integral development of Burundian communities.
