III. DEPARTMENT FOR CHURCH COMMUNITY MOBILIZATION




A. Projects for Community Mobilization for Development

Focus: From 2016-2025 Church Community Mobilization for Development will focus on mobilizing grassroots leaders, Training workshops for leaders, Implementation of workshop learning by starting church-based projects, Mentorship through monitoring, evaluation and reporting on church-based projects. The church will develop a contextualized and relevant church and community mobilization program with appropriate teaching materials, train church and community mobilizers in order to implement the program and assess and insure its effectiveness through critical monitoring and evaluation.

 

B. Projects for Mobilizing Christians for Health Education

Focus: From 2016 to 2025, Church Mobilization for Health Education Program will focus on organizing a health education program in each Burundi Free Methodist Local Church and train all members of the local church on health related issues including family planning, healthy first aid, healthy hygiene, healthy nutrition, healthy use of clean water, healthy use of medication, etc… The church will mobilize doctors, nurses and other medical practitioners to develop a contextualized and relevant health education program with appropriate teaching materials, and work together to implement the program and assess and insure its effectiveness through critical monitoring and evaluation.

 

C. Projects for Mobilizing Christians for Savings and Community Development

Focus: From 2016 to 2025, Church Mobilization for Community Development Program in each Burundi Free Methodist Local Church will focus on training all members of the local church on Economic Empowerment ventures including modern farming, keeping small animals, keeping big animals, small businesses, savings, tailoring, arts and crafts, etc… The church will train Economic Empowerment Coordinators on how to develop a contextualized and relevant Economic Empowerment initiatives with appropriate teaching materials, and work together with members of the local to implement the program through different initiatives and assess and insure its effectiveness through critical monitoring and evaluation.

 

D. Projects for Community Peacebuilding, Justice and Social Cohesion

From 2016 to 2025 Church Mobilization for Peacebuilding, Justice and Social Cohesion Program will focus on organizing a peace and justice program in each Burundi Free Methodist Local Church to deal with issues of justice, human rights, peaceful cohabitation, conflict prevention, conflict management, and conflict resolution and conflict transformation where necessary. The major focus will be the family in the community. The church will train human rights-justice-peace builders to develop a contextualized and relevant peace and justice program with appropriate teaching materials, and work together with members of the local church to implement the program and assess and insure its effectiveness through critical monitoring and evaluation.

 

E. Projects for Caring for Children and People with Special Needs

From 2016 to 2025, Church Mobilization for Caring for for Children and People with Special Needs known as Glorious Ministries, will focus on caring for children, widows, orphans, disabled, sick people and captives. Programs for Glorious Ministries will be organized in each Burundi Free Methodist Local Church to care for the needs of children, widows, orphans and disabled. The programs will include among others, empowerment for living and for facing life challenges. The church will train social workers to develop a contextualized and relevant glorious ministries programs with appropriate teaching materials, and work together with members of the local to implement Glorious Ministries Programs and assess and insure its effectiveness through critical monitoring and evaluation.
