I. DEPARTMENT FOR EVANGELISM, DISCIPLESHIP AND CHURCH GROWTH

 

1. Projects for Evangelism

Focus: From 2016-2025, Ministries of the Church and Evangelism will focus on presenting the Gospel of salvation by grace alone through faith in Jesus Christ; the reorganization of church Sunday services to last only 2 hours with the exception of special Sundays, which will be allowed an additional 30 minutes; teaching all about Free Methodism, its meaning and why we are Free Methodists; reorganizing catechism classes in all Burundi Free Methodist local churches; make literacy and numeracy mandatory for all who go through catechism class and sensitize all members of the congregation to go through the literacy and numeracy program; develop contextualized and relevant materials, implement the program, assess and insure its effectiveness through critical monitoring and evaluation.

 

2. Projects for Discipleship

Focus: From 2016 to 2025, Ministries of the Church and Discipleship will focus on teaching and guiding new converts to grow spiritually towards Christlikeness by organizing discipleship program in all Burundi Free Methodist Church local churches, train discipleship trainers, develop contextualized and relevant discipleship materials, implement the program and assess and insure its effectiveness through critical monitoring and evaluation.

 

3. Projects for Home Cells Program

Focus: From 2016 to 2025, Ministries of the Church and Home Cell Program will focus on organizing cell groups in all communities surrounding each Burundi Free Methodist local church; train group leaders; develop a plan for teaching to be used in each cell group; develop contextualized and relevant home cell program materials, implement the program and assess and insure its effectiveness through critical monitoring and evaluation.

 

4. Projects for Literacy and Numeracy Program

Focus: From 2016 to 2025, Ministries of the Church and Literacy and Numeracy Program will focus on teaching all members of the congregation to read, write and count. The program will be organized in each local Burundi Free Methodist Church. The program will be developed in a way that will increase biblical knowledge for spiritual growth, Christian living, conflict prevention and management, and entrepreneurship ventures. In addition the church will develop the contextualized and relevant literacy and numeracy program materials, implement the program and assess and insure its effectiveness through critical monitoring and evaluation.

 

5. Projects for Church Planting and Church Growth

Focus: From 2015-2016 Ministries of the Church, Church Planting and Church Growth Program will focus on planting strong churches, having strategically identified the location, trained lay leaders, mobilized church funds, and having put in place all that is needed to plant and start a new church. The church will develop the contextualized and relevant church planting program guidelines, implement the program and assess and insure its effectiveness through critical monitoring and evaluation.
